  5. written by Harry C. Snyder.

  12. Harry's Screen Blanker and sent in suggestions for improvements. A lot

  16. The About box will give you information on how to register this program for
  17. $10 and get the password to eliminate the About Box screen each time the
  18. program runs.  You will also receive a small document describing in more
  19. detail how to use 'Harry's Screen Blanker'.

  21. A NEW feature has been added to assist in registering.  In the Blanker
  22. menu, choose the Register item to display a registration form.  This form
  23. can be filled in and a registration request letter can be printed.
  24. This form can also be accessed by pressing the Register button in the
  25. About box.

  56. 1) Copy the files HSCRBLNK.EXE and HSCRLIB.DLL into your Windows Directory.
  57. 2) Run Windows
  58. 3) Through the Windows File Manager, MSDOS.EXE or however else you run
  59.    Windows applications, run the program HSCRBLNK.EXE.
  60. 4) Select AutoLoad in the Blanker Menu to configure Windows so that Harry's 
  61.    Screen Blanker will automatically load each time you run Windows.

  64. NOTE:  In order for the screen blanker to activate, it must be minimized
  65. on your Windows desktop.  To minimize the screen blanker, go to the System
  66. Menu and select Minimize.

  68. When Harry's Screen Blanker is started, it automatically goes to a 
  69. Minimized state.

  71. PREVIOUS USERS:  Options are no longer stored in your WIN.INI file.
  72. A new file HARRY.INI is created that contains your encrypted password
  73. and other screen blanker options.

  81. Blanker/Blank Now - activates the screen blanker immediately.

  83. Blanker/Choose Blanker -
  84.  
  85.     Harry's Screen Blanker currently contains 5 blanker types. Select one
  86.     from the Choose Blanker item in the Blanker menu.  They are:
  87.  
  88.     Original Flavor: The original Harry's Screen Blanker line display.
  89.  
  90.     Message: Allows you to type any message that will be displayed during
  91.     blanking.
  92.  
  93.     I'll Be Back:  Displays a countdown of minutes during blanking.  You set
  94.     the number of minutes.  Can be used when you leave your computer to notify 
  95.     others when you will return.
  96.  
  97.     SpotLight: Blanks the screen and a spotlight shines on the screen showing
  98.     what was underneath before blanking.
  99.  
  100.     Scroller Coaster:  Scrolls your entire screen horizontally or vertically.

  102. Blanker/Register - Assists in registering Harry's Screen Blanker by
  103.     allowing you to fill in pertinent information, calculating your total,
  104.     and printing a letter to send to me.

  106. Blanker/Exit - Quits Harry's Screen Blanker. There is no reason to ever use
  107.     this command.

  109. Blanker/About - Gives you version/registration information for Harry's
  110.     Screen Blanker.

  113. Double clicking with the Left mouse button anywhere in the screen blanker
  114. window will activate the Choose Blanker dialog box.

  116. Double clicking with the Right mouse button will activate the Display Options
  117. dialog box.

  122. Options/Display -
  123.    Gives you specific display options for your selected blanker.
  124.  
  125. Options/Blanking -
  126. You can set a time delay from .10 to 10.00 minutes.  The default is 4 
  127. minutes.  After you set the delay, MINIMIZE the Screen Blanker and your 
  128. screen will blank after the specifed time of keyboard and mouse inactivity.
  129. Pressing any key or mouse button will unblank the screen and minimize the program.

  131. You can also specify whether you want the Quick Blanking option to be
  132. in effect.  Quick Blanking allows you to put your mouse cursor in the upper
  133. left corner of the screen to activate the screen blanker.

  135. Options/Password -
  136.  
  137. Passwords can be set so the user must type in a password in order for the 
  138. screen blanker to unblank the screen.  If the user types in the wrong 
  139. password a notification dialog box appears and the screen blanker continues 
  140. running.

  142. The Password menu item allows you to set your own password and enable
  143. password checking.  Initially, your password empty.  Passwords
  144. are scrambled and placed in your harry.ini file.  If you ever forget your
  145. password, you will have to reboot your computer, edit your HARRY.INI file, and
  146. delete the line "password=xxxx" under the heading "[Harry's Screen Blanker]".

  155. version 3.0 -  Adds four new screen blankers (Message, SpotLight,
  156. I'll Be Back, and Scroller Coaster).  Allows quick-blanking when mouse is 
  157. in upper left corner. Complete redesign of internals for quick development 
  158. of new screen blanker types.  New support for a private INI file 
  159. (HARRY.INI).  This file will reside in your windows directory.
  160. Disables old password box when there was no old password.
  161. Tells you how many times someone tried to enter in a password to unblank
  162. the screen.  Allows ESC key to work in dialog boxes.
  163. Allows blanking from the System Menu.
  164. Allows activating 'I'll Be Back' from the System menu.

  166. Version 2.15 will blank the screen if a DOS program is iconized and active
  167. but won't blank the screen if a DOS program takes up the full screen.  For
  168. some reason when the DOS program is full screen, IsIconized() returns TRUE
  169. for the Active Window.  This causes the program to blank which is undesirable.

  171. Version 2.13 will not blank the screen if a DOS program is iconized and
  172. active.  The menus were changed to be more standard with "..." after each
  173. item that needs more information.

  175. Version 2.12 will not blank the screen if a DOS program is active.
  176.  
  177. Version 2.11 strengthens the password locking function.  Previous versions
  178. had a bug where a user could <ALT><ESC> out of the password dialog box.
  179. A smarter password encryption algorithm is now being used.

  181. Version 2.1 contains a new function, AutoLoad for automatically configuring
  182. Windows (through the WIN.INI file) so the screen blanker will automatically
  183. load itself each time you run Windows.
  184. A bug was found and fixed that caused the timer delay to be off when initially
  185. loading the program.

  187. Version 2.03 contains a lot of additional features (over 1.x) 
  188. for customizing the screen blanker.
